Control of diabetes depends primarily on Monitoring diabetes.  If you are not aware of your blood sugar levels, you cannot control them.  As you probably already know and will have affirmed here, diet, exercise, and in some cases medicine are the means by which you are able to control your diabetes.  What is not widely understood is that there are many variables which affect your blood glucose levels even while you are practicing the best combinations of these elements.  To assure tight control, you must monitor your blood sugar and make changes in your routine to correct for these variables.

Double blind, fully sanctioned trials over ten year periods have shown that careful monitoring and treatment (tight control) based on that monitoring vastly improve the health of the diabetic.  Initially it was thought that this was only true for type 1 diabetes, but a study in Great Britain which focused on type 2 diabetics proved that the same protocols apply equally to type 1 and 2 diabetes.  Many in the medical field and health care field are not yet aware of the British study.  You should call your Doctor or care-giver's attention to this trial.  Results are posted on Diabetician.com's Post Production page.

Monitoring Blood Sugar Levels

Diabetician recommends that you closely monitor your blood sugar levels; again, it is important that you co-ordinate all activities with your physician and/or health care giver.  Be aware that you may have to
call their attention to the British study.

Diabetician will detail the most effective monitoring and follow-up practices generally recommended as a result of the latest randomized, double blind, medically accepted studies.

Diabetician will show you how to analyse blood glucose monitors and other testing devices and accessories to find what is right for you.
We will make you aware of the latest advances in technology, medical breakthroughs, and related fields of science and medicine.

Keep in mind that individuals vary in their reactions to exercise, medicines, and diet.  This is why it is important that you correlate your treatment with your physician and care giver.

Exercise

Exercise may be the single most important thing you can do  to  control  your diabetes.  Your body continues to burn sugar for 24 hours following
 20 minutes of sustained exercise.

Remember, type 2 diabetes is primarily the inability of your cells to burn glucose or sugar effectively!  Diabetician believes that  20 minutes a day four times a week of sustained exercise is your best offense against the disease.

Medicines  (Developing)

Your doctor will prescribe the correct medicines for you, and you must follow these prescriptions exactly.  Diabetician will explain in layman's
terms what diabetic medicines do, and how they do it.  You will learn
to accurately report to your physician or caregiver the effects of your
prescribed medications, so that they may make the proper adjustments.
Without input from the diabetic patient, the physician is at a disadvantage in diabetes treatment.
